This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Vice President, and General Manager of Physician RCM.
· Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the coding department, including workload and staffing, hiring, training, disciplining, performance appraisals, and monitoring quality of work.
· Help develop long-range and short-term goals, objectives, plans, and programs and ensures they are implemented.
· Identify, assess, and resolve problems. Prepares administrative reports.
· Conduct coding audit efforts and coordinate monitoring of coding accuracy and documentation adequacy. Ensure timely submission of claims and communicate with account managers on escalations.
· Report noncompliance issues detected through auditing and monitoring, the nature of corrective action plans, and the results of follow-up audits to the Directors and the Compliance Officer.
· Conduct trend analyses to identify patterns and variations in coding practices and case-mix-index.
· When necessary, review claim denials and rejections pertaining to coding and medical necessity issues and implement corrective action plans (such as educational programs) to prevent similar denials and rejections from recurring.
· Collaborate with the Coding Specialists and function as a facilitator, liaison, and/or motivator.
· Stay updated on changes in coding regulations and implement necessary changes.
· Prepare and release weekly reportingon issues pending clinic review.
· Host training sessions with codingstaff and AR staff.
· Serve as main point of codingquestions for management staff.
· Other tasks and projects as needed andrequired.
· Familiar with coding for multiple specialties included by not limited to Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Podiatry, Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, General Survey, Orthopedic Surgery, Cardiology, Urgent Care, Pain Management, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Anesthesiology, ENT Surgery, Ophthalmology, Behavioral Health, Radiology, and Oncology etc.
· AAPC Certified (or equivalent with AHIMA)
· 5+ years of experience with professional fee coding/ambulatory care coding
· Experience and background in Physician Professional Billing highly preferred.
· Candidates must have experience in supervising staff and overseeing workflow functions.
· Experience with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel are required.
· Some limited travel may be required.
· Qualified candidates must have a professional working environment in their home including phone and internet access.
· Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds at times.
